ECURIE ECOSSE - BACKGROUND

In 1956 a small privateer team from Edinburgh - ECURIE ECOSSE - entered their customer Jaguar D-type in the LeMans 24hr race and - against the mighty factory teams of Ferrari, Aston Martin and others
- they won outright.
The following year, 1957, with their ex-factory Jaguar D-types they finished first and second, ensuring a special place in motorsport history, symbolising a will to win through determination, spirit and passion.
Many famous drivers have driven for ECURIE ECOSSE, including Innes Ireland, Sir Jack Brabham, Jim Clark, Sir Jackie Stewart.
The team went on to triumph in other disciplines of motorsport over the years, including becoming world champions by winning the Group C2 World Sportscar Championship in 1986.
ECURIE ECOSSE won the British Touring Car Championship for Vauxhall and have helped support some of Scotland’s most successful modern racing drivers including 1998 & 2008 Le Mans winner Allan McNish, F1 legend David Coulthard, the late David Leslie, John Cleland and 2007 Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti.

To this day, ECURIE ECOSSE Racing Ltd still participates in motorsport, under the patronage of Hugh McCaig – and we respectively appreciate his approval and support of this XF project.
As a salute to the ECURIE ECOSSE heritage, a limited-edition conversion of the beautiful new Jaguar XF saloon has evolved………….created in the very building that was used by 1956 LeMans winner Ninian Sanderson to store and prepare his race cars.
Only 100 of these conversions will be built - the uniqueness, the individuality and the under-stated style of this car will appeal to enthusiasts old and young. The car drives so well, and tells such a powerful story, that to own an ECURIE ECOSSE version of the XF will, in itself, speak volumes. |
